POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
Position: Director, Center for Disability Services, University of Utah
Position Summary:
The Center for Disability Services (CDS) plans, organizes and directs all services and activities this office offers to students with disabilities who qualify under federal guidelines. The services are made available to students to allow them to fully participate in all educational programs and activities or the University and to keep the public informed of these services. The director supervises a full-time staff of seven and approximately twenty part-time staff, including readers, scribes and interpreters. The office serves nearly 1,000 students.
Qualifications:
The successful applicant will have a graduate degree in Social Work, Educational Psychology, Special Education, Rehabilitation Counseling or related field plus five years experience working with adults or adolescents with disabilities required along with administrative experience including budget development and personnel management. Demonstrated knowledge of programs and services that provide accommodations to college students with disabilities, and knowledge and training in federal and state laws regarding people with disabilities is also required. Skills in grant writing and computer technology preferred.

The University of Utah is located at the foot of the Wasatch Mountains in the state capital of Salt Lake City, Utah. Salt Lake and the surrounding Wasatch Front area is home to approximately 70% of the state=s 2 million residents. The University offers 74 undergraduate degree programs, more than 50 teaching majors and minors, and 93 graduate majors. It=s 29,000 students are enrolled from all 29 Utah counties, all 50 states, and 102 foreign countries.
