A Great Opportunity for Students with Disabilities Pursuing Computing
Scott Bellman, at the University of Washington, is seeking computing
students who have disabilities to join the NSF-funded AccessComputing
project described below. It is free to students and allows them to
develop a paid computing internship on their campus or in their
community. Please let Scott know if you are able to recommend some
students or pass the information along to them. If you have any
questions about the program, please contact Scott
<mailto:swb3 at u.washington.edu> directly.
Here is a brief introduction to the program that offers paid internship
and mentoring opportunities for students with disabilities pursuing
computing.
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of
Washington and DO-IT (Disabilities, Opportunities, Internetworking, and
Technology) sponsor the AccessComputing Alliance for the purpose of
increasing the participation of people with disabilities in computing
careers. College students with disabilities from anywhere in the United
States who are pursuing Computer Science and other computing majors are
encouraged to join the AccessComputing Team.
The application is available at:
http://www.washington.edu/accesscomputing/team_app.html
The AccessComputing project is funded by the National Science
Foundation. For more information or help with the application, students
are encouraged to contact:
Scott Bellman (swb3 at u.washington.edu).
