Audioconference October 10, 2008 at 10:00 - 11:30am

"Congressional Reset of the ADA: How will the ADA
Amendments Affect Your Policy & Practice?"

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

AHEAD is pleased to provide this timely
audioconference opportunity to provide higher
education professionals with crucial information
on how the ADA Amendments will affect your policy and practice.

During final passage of the ADA Amendments by
Congress George Miller summarized the purpose of
the ADA Amendments as returning the proper
emphasis to whether discrimination occurred
rather than on whether an individual's impairment
qualifies as a disability. He went on to comment
on some of the expectations for higher education.

“
.students with physical or mental impairments
will have access to the accommodations and
modifications they need to successfully pursue an
education
that the less demanding standard
applied to the definition of disability will
allow students and licensure candidates with
documented disabilities to more readily access
appropriate accommodations on examinations when needed.”

What is the likely impact of this Congressional
“reset” of the ADA on our campuses? What policies
and practices will need adjusting? Join Scott
Lissner for an exploration of the amendments and
a discussion of what policies and practices are likely to be affected.

L. Scott Lissner
The ADA Coordinator for the Ohio State University
and Fellow of the John Glenn Institute of Public
policy and Public Service, Mr. Lissner is
responsible for disability related compliance and policy.
