Course Description:
One of the most frequent accommodations provided to students with a variety
of disabilities is some form of testing accommodation. A range of services
and support may be needed, and a range of models may be used, from testing
done within the disability services office to testing overseen by a
free-standing testing center, to testing accommodations provided directly by
faculty. This interactive audio conference will discuss the assignment of
accommodation for testing, the relative merits of various testing models,
and organization features of a functional and credible testing
accommodations program.
Learning Points and Questions to be Answered:
. What are the options or models typically in use for providing testing
accommodations in higher education?
. What is the process, from start to finish, for assigning accommodations,
notification of instructors, monitoring testing, and returning tests to
faculty?
. How can and how should DSS providers organize the assignment of space, use
of assistive technology, training and assignment of proctors, readers, or
scribes?
. Thorny issues in testing - protecting security, maintaining academic
integrity, answering concerns about fairness and extended time, and more
