Exploring Response to Intervention: What it Means for Disability
Documentation Practices.

Response to Intervention (RTI), the latest educational bandwagon, is
included in the IDEA, thereby giving this movement a credibility and
mandate that prior educational theories and strategies never realized.
Postsecondary disability professionals are becoming aware of this
concept and are curious about its implications. A well-respected member
of AHEAD, the presenter will describe RTI in theory and practice,
discuss its promises and pitfalls, and describe what RTI means to
disability service providers at the postsecondary level. Audience: All

Mississippi AHEAD, through the Project ACCESS Grant, funded by the
Mississippi Council on Developmental Disabilities, is pleased to offer
the 2007-2008 AHEAD to You! Audioconference Series, free of charge, at
three convenient locations across the state.  AHEAD to You! is produced
directly by the national Association on Higher Education and Disability
and they feature respected national and international experts presenting
theoretical and practical information tailored to professionals working
in disability services.  Local response to the October 18th
audioconference - Tools to Bring Your Documentation Practices into
Alignment - was overwhelmingly positive!

All audioconferences run for 90 minutes from 2:00 to 3:30 pm Central
Time and are preceded and followed by opportunities to contact the
instructors via Email. Additionally, each hosting site will facilitate a
discussion at the conclusion of each audio conference. To reserve your
seat, please notify the contact person listed at your host institution
at least 5 working days in advance.  Note: Complimentary web-based
real-time captioning will be provided for all audioconference sessions.
When you call, simply notify the host site to request this service,
should you require it.

Preparing Students with Disabilities for Access in the World of Work: A
Look at Current Research and Best Practices

Since the passage of the ADA in 1990, employment of individuals with
disabilities has declined according to current research using major
surveys. This presentation will focus on current research that has been
done on how college graduates with physical disabilities have fared in
the labor market. The presenter, a veteran AHEAD member and current
researcher in disability, will highlight successful strategies and
models for helping students transition and gain access to the labor
