Hi everyone,
I haven't received any responses on the question/issue. Can anyone
refer me to resources? I don't want to assume that no one collaborates
with their admissions office. Any thoughts are appreciated.
Thanks,
Erin

Hi Scott,
With each new dean, we have had experience all approaches. We know have
a new dean who to formalize a process for handling requests. He
believes in hearing the story and considering compelling circumstances.
Can you help with a formal policy and comment on the legal implications,
especially considering the fact that you can't ask about disability on
the application. How can we straddle both sides of the fence in fair,
caring, and non-discriminatory way?

Erin,
Good question and I will start a conversation by saying practices
probably fall along a dimension with these anchor points.
Intestinally Ignore/Delete disability information so it can't influence
decision making.
Informally consider information that students explicitly put on the
table
Has a formal policy for handling request for accommodations in
admissions requirements.
Where do you fall along these dimensions?

Subject: "Documentation" question
Good morning everyone,
I'd like to hear some of your practices around reviewing documentation
during the admissions process. It seems some schools review
documentation and consider disability issues during the admissions
process in the event the person's grades improved after receiving
accommodations. Alternatively, other schools do not consider special
circumstances and will not review any information that is disability
related.
Scott, I'd certainly be thrilled to see this issue through the ADA
compliance lenses and hear from others about their practices.
Thank you,
Erin
